Trump gets blindsided with call for criminal investigation: “Let me be very clear; the House of Representatives now has an obligation, a resolution of censure when the President indisputably intimidates and obstructs justice to prevent a witness from testifying”

Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen cancelled his public testimony to Congress last month. Some say that Rudy Giuliani made that happen. Now, Cohen’s spokesman Lanny Davis was on ABC News this week and demanded a witness intimidation investigation be opened into Trump and Giuliani.

Through Fox News, Trump has gone on the warpath against Michael Cohen. He ramped things up once he heard of Cohen’s plans to testify before the House. After Trump’s threats, Davis told ABC’s George Stephanopolous that Cohen needs the House Dems to protect him. He also said at this point, law enforcement needs to be involved.

Davis said “Let me be very clear; the House of Representatives now has an obligation, a resolution of censure when the President indisputably intimidates and obstructs justice to prevent a witness from testifying, is in order. So is a federal criminal investigation of Rudy Giuliani for witness tampering […] Calling out a man’s father-in-law and wife in order to intimidate the witness is not fair game.”

Stephanopolous noted that the House Republicans have told him they plan to crank up their efforts to smear Cohen through media outlets like Fox and Breitbart after they ask him pointless “tough questions.” David laughed it off saying “The last thing that Michael Cohen fears is partisan hack questions from Republicans.”

Cohen’s testimony is only going to grow more important as the Senate Intelligence Committee has now sent him the compulsory process to appear as a witness to their panel. Unfortunately, Cohen’s testimony there won’t be public, so we need the testimony in the House of Representatives to expose all of Trump’s secrets.

This is why Trump and Giuliani have resorted to these mob tactics to prevent this from happening. The Republican Party has tried to paint the Democrats as the monsters who don’t play by the rules, but we continue to see time and time again that the Republicans are the ones acting shady.

Cohen has every right to be afraid for his and his family’s safety after Donald Trump’s intimidation tactics on national television. This calls for a full investigation and we can only hope the feds take this seriously. You can watch the video of Lanny David on ABC News here.
