In just a few short days Democrats will officially take control of the House. The current Republican majority is running out of time to get anything done and, in true Republican fashion, they have been forced to admit they’ve accomplished nothing.
To make matters worse, in a media blast last night, Republicans basically admitted that everything they’ve been investigating for the last two years was all made up. The House Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy and House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte both wasted America’s time and money “investigating” Hillary Clinton’s emails and the Mueller investigation.
Their final report reveals that Hillary did nothing wrong and Mueller hasn’t either. No shocking revelations here.
However, the GOP is now trying to distance themselves from this sham investigation by saying they never really meant to pursue these investigations, but had to in order to be “fair.” The House GOP just admitted that Hillary never broke any laws, but they are also suggesting a Special Counsel to investigate her just to be sure.
New York Times reports that Republicans released a letter urging their Senate counterparts to pick up their politically charged inquiry into the handling of the F.B.I.’s investigations of President Trump’s campaign and Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server, and called again for the appointment of a special counsel to study the matter.
Detailing some of their findings, the chairmen of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees said it appeared to them that the F.B.I. had treated the Trump and Clinton cases differently, cutting Mrs. Clinton and her associates crucial breaks while assigning agents who privately exchanged reams of messages bashing Mr. Trump to investigate his campaign’s links to Russia.
“It is not the discovery of bias that is so destructive to fairness, it is the existence of it,” the chairmen, Robert W. Goodlatte of Virginia and Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, wrote of the officials.
The House Republicans just carried out worthless investigations and wasted their time in the House. Instead of serving Americans like they should have, they were too busy sucking up to the paranoid President with these sham “investigations.” They’ve now admitted there was nothing criminal in either case and since both of these “leaders” are retiring, that will most likely be the end of it. Good riddance, gentlemen.
