Those in the “Donald Trump is puppet of Vladimir Putin” camp will find this report quite interesting I’m sure. Trump supporters will think it’s just Trump “telling it like it is.”
Either way, according to the New York Times, after Trump aides told him not to congratulate Putin on his electoral victory, Trump told Putin that “those are stupid people” and “you shouldn’t listen to them.”
Whatever side you’re on, it’s at least slightly concerning that the President of the United States believes his advisors are stupid and won’t listen to them at all, right?
This conversation is part of the larger one as Trump prepares to enter NATO talks and is seen as a wild card among America’s allies. NY Times explains:
During a phone call with Mr. Putin in March, when the president was urged by aides not to congratulate the Russian president on his electoral victory, Mr. Trump did just that.
He told Mr. Putin that Russia and the United States should get along better. And he described as “stupid people” the unnamed Trump administration officials whom the Russian president said had tried to prevent the call from happening, according to a person with direct knowledge of the conversation.
